Winifred Roundy White

Winifred Roundy White passed away on January 15, 2025 at her home in Goshen, Utah after a stroke in December. She was born on May 2, 1937 in Eureka, Utah to William and Avaleen Wall Roundy. Due to her father's early death she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Robert Evelyn (Curley) Kirk, in Goshen, where she lived most of her life. She attended elementary and junior high school in Goshen and high school in Payson, where she participated in drama, music, and speech. She also enjoyed softball and volleyball, and was senior-class president. After attending college for a year she married her favorite dance partner, William H. White, also of Goshen. They were the parents of William Fred (died as an infant), Perry (Martianne), Clark, Sabrina, and Troy (Gina). She was grandmother to Nathan, Eric, Katelyn, Kyler, Tuker, Aubrey, Shayden, Kamrie, and Dalton and great-grandmother to 9. She was heard to say many times that the years she had her grandchildren living close by were the best years of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Karon Strandberg of Fairbanks, Alaska.

When her children were all in school, she returned to BYU and graduated with a teaching degree. She taught third grade for three years and middle school for the the remainder of 25 years at Goshen school. The 6th and 7th grades enjoyed many pioneer treks up Goshen Canyon where they cooked their meals in dutch ovens. The students also experienced participating in many different musical programs.

She also was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice. She sang with the Goshenettes from its beginning . They furnished a full program of music and the spoken word, which she authored throughout Utah, Juab, and Salt Lake counties. She enjoyed serving in all the organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; especially Primary music director and in the Young Women Presidency. She loved camping at KoHoLoWo and all the fun and sacred experiences with the girls, and many different callings using her many talents, especially in music. She furnished music in over 100 funerals.

She had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and her last wish is for her entire family to gain such a testimony that they might be an eternal family.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goshen (75 S Center St) on January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held at 9:30 AM prior to the funeral services.
