William passed away at his home on February 5th 2023. He was born in Salt Lake City on Sept 23, 1938 to Grace Lavon and Jack W. Wright. He grew up in the avenues of Salt Lake City.
As a young man he worked as an officer for the Salt Lake City police department where he ran motorcade for the funeral precessions. This was the beginning of a life long love for Harley Davidson. Later he began a long career as a truck driver for UPS where he worked until he retired in 2007.
He married Diane Marie Gove on November 16th 1985 and they spent 28 years together.
Friday and Saturday night you could always find them at the Wagonmaster steak house taking part in whatever shenanigans that took place there.
Sundays were always spent with his son John Wright, whether on the Harley’s for a charity ride, an afternoon at home completing a honey do list for mom, or sitting in front of the TV watching a ball game you knew they would be together.
Bill always had a motor home or camp trailer all shined up ready to go along side his beloved Harley Davidson. They looked forward to the annual Mountain Man Rendezvous in fort bridger Wyoming and never missed a year.
He lived a good life and loved his family. His greatest joy in life came from granddaughter Jessica and grandson Cody Johnson. He was always close to them and directly involved in their life, spent many proud and happy years dotting over their every accomplishment.
His courage was heroic after a stroke left him with limited abilities and challenged him to complete even the simplest of tasks. He stayed strong and fought hard until the end.
He was very grateful for daughter Shelair and her husband Troy Gage for the years of special care after the unexpected death of his son John.
Special thanks to the hospice staff Amy, Shelby and Julia. Thank you for the endless hours of care, long visits, and repeated talks, listening to his life stories on repeat. He really loved the staff who he referred to as kids at Summit senior living center. Thank you for your effort in making his time here a little bit easier.
He would light up at the sight of a family member coming to visit, he especially enjoyed seeing the grandkids and great grandkids.
He will be greatly missed but we have peace in knowing he is no longer struggling and is finally home where he belongs reunited with the love of his life.
He is preceded in death by Jack W. Wright (father) Grace Lavon Wright (mother), Gerald Riley (Brother), Diane Gove Wright (Wife), William John Wright (son)
He is Survived by sons Todd Hughes (Kim), Curtis Hughes (Lisa), Daughter Lori Hughes and granddaughter Amber, son Thayne Hughes (Lisa), Daughter Shelair Gage (favorite son in law Troy), 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
