William E. Seyfried, 90, died peacefully at his home in Midvale, Utah, following a long illness.
He was born February 25, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Elmer J. and Louise Seyfried. He married Suzanne Lee Greene in Columbia, Missouri, on January 29, 1949. That marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1960.
He graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, Missouri, in 1945. Upon graduation he played several years of professional baseball in the St. Louis Cardinal organization. He later attended and graduated in 1950 from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, with a B.S. degree in Business and Public Administration. He worked for several local and internationally known construction companies in the St. Louis area. He retired as Purchasing Agent from the McDonnell-Douglas Corp. of St. Louis in June of 1987. He loved working in his garden and was devoted to his family.
Mr. Seyfried and his wife of 67 years joined the LDS church in 1952 and served in many capacities, including St. Louis Regional Athletic Director, Counselor in several Bishoprics, Branch President of the Mexico, Missouri, branch, Columbia Missouri Stake High Counselor, High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum President, Five-Stake Coordinator for Youth Conferences, Ward Choir Director, and other positions.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, two children: Paul Seyfried of West Jordan, Utah, and Lynnda Greene of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren: Anjuli, Mallory, Madison and Sheridan; and three great-grandchildren: Maresa, Anjelus and Conrad.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Midvale East Stake, 240 East 7570 South, Midvale, Utah. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service. Interment, Lake Hills Memorial.
