William Bryan Laker

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather William Bryan Laker died at the age of 93. He was born to Daniel C. Laker and Dora Hemmert Laker in St. Charles, Idaho on the north end of Bear Lake. The family moved to Salt Lake City. Utah Power and Light awarded Bryan a four year scholarship to the engineering program at the University of Utah. There he earned his letter sweater in swimming. Bryan was also in the Theta tau Professional Engineering Fraternity. In April of 1944 Uncle Sam took the Engineering Department and drafted them into the Navy Radar Program during WW2. Bryan served on Corregidor Island until April 1946. He was married to Dorothy for nearly 71 years. They had two wonderful daughters. Bryan worked at Utah Power and Light, Sperry UNIVAC, owned and founded the Technical Engineering Institute,and was the first president of the Private Schools Association of Utah. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters, Linda (George) Pearson, Susan (Roy) Adams. Grandchildren: Matthew (Angie), Emily, Paul. Great grandchildren: Jeff, Eliza and David. Also two granddogs: Bentley and Rocco. A special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility for their kind and compassionate care of Bryan A private graveside service was held on August 1, 2017 at the Salt Lake City Cemetery
