William Hatch Davis, age 95, of New Braunfels, TX, formerly of Plainview, passed away on June 30, 2020. Bill was the ninth of ten children born to Charles and Orletta Davis. He was the last surviving child at the time of his death. His wife of 67 years, Lucile Claire Davis, died in November of 2016. He is survived by 5 children, William G. Davis, Craig L. Davis, Kevin B. Davis, Leanne Davis, and Lanette Davis. He had 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Bill served in the Navy during World War II and was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He was released from service after finishing his basic training. He served a 2 and 1/2 year mission in The Netherlands for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after his service in the Navy.
Bill earned his B.S and M. S from Utah State University. His PhD was earned at North Carolina State University. He went on to enjoy a successful career in plant breeding for several companies. He held multiple patents for his work.
He was known for his generosity when needs arose. He will be missed by his family.
A celebration of his life is being held on Tuesday, July 7 in Plainview, Texas.
A graveside service will take place Saturday, July 11 at 10 am at the Wanship Cemetery in Wanship, Utah.
