William "Bill" Thomas Hull, age 59, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 19, 2021, after a years-long battle with cancer. Bill fought his disease with tremendous courage and vigor until the very end.
Bill was born on January 18, 1962, in San Francisco, CA to Thomas Earl Hull and Doris "Dee" Hull. He spent much of his childhood in the Salt Lake City area where he met his soulmate, Tina Baker Hull. A couple of moves took Bill and Tina across the country, including stints in Sedona, AZ, near Birmingham, AL, and Memphis, TN, but more recently they found themselves back in Utah near their family and beloved mountains.
Bill was an accomplished athlete and daring skier in his youth, as well as a gifted student, graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in finance. In his career, he was a highly skilled salesman and mentor of his peers, oft regarded as the "best boss ever." As a husband, he loved his wife selflessly-whether it was supporting her in her spiritual journey or spending his final days securing her future. His boys, Austin Hull and Andrew Hull, grew up with a tremendous love and admiration for their father. Bill placed special care into coaching his boys through baseball, spending countless nights playing catch or being a nervous wreck at the ball field.
He was described by a friend as having "a little bit of southern charm and a lot of western attitude." Bill had a talent for making friends and even strangers feel like family. As he led others, he was stubborn, blunt, and always, always honest. But his character was personified by his deep commitment to family, his friends, and his home. He always had the prettiest lawn on the block, his friends loved him dearly, and his family viewed him as their "North Star." Those close to him leaned on Bill for guidance and support because they trusted his wisdom. Friends and family won't forget that he was the life of the party. The best of Bill was showcased during dinners he hosted (despite being a picky eater)-those at the table knew him to be funny and that he had a quick wit, he was incredibly giving, and he carried the torch of remembering loved ones and carrying out important family traditions. Above all, Bill was authentically and unapologetically "Bill," and those around him loved him for it.
Bill Hull is survived by his wife Tina Hull; children, Austin (Malyssa) Hull and Andrew Hull (& fiancée Kynsie Hone); mother, Doris Hull; sister, Terri Hull; nephew, Will Hull Watkins; and many close cousins and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hull.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on September 19, 2021, at Memorial House in Salt Lake City from 11am-2pm. It is located at 375 N. Canyon Rd., Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Bill's honor. If you would like to donate, click here:
