William (Bill) Steven Ferguson

William (Bill) Steven Ferguson passed away peacefully on January 23, 2018. He was born in Murray, UT on January 1, 1948 to Melvin Wallace and Gertrude Sorenson Ferguson.

Bill grew up in Sandy, UT with friends that kept him busy getting into lots of trouble and creating stories that his kids adored. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1966. He served faithfully as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission. Upon returning, he met and married the love of his life, Sherri Stapley Ferguson, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1970. He was a fun and loving father and grandfather to 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Bill was an avid reader and instilled his love of books in all his children. He loved nature and was a master gardener. He had a deep appreciation of learning and the gospel, and engrossed himself in both. He served in many callings and leadership positions throughout his life and sought opportunities to serve others. Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time and sharing new experiences with them. He was always there to listen and provide sound advice. He was full of life. He was a tease and loved to give others a hard time. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother John and granddaughter Akayla Ferguson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri, of 47 years; his children Tara Sessions, Angella (Eric) Parkinson, Cheryll (Darin) Ross, Lance (Angela) Ferguson, Reese (Tosy) Ferguson; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister Judy (Maurice) Frisby.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 30th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Goff Mortuary on 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Funeral will be held Wednesday, January 31st at 11:00 am with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am at the LDS Stake Center at 7336 S 3200 W, West Jordan.
