Wesley (Wess) Delano Allen passed away early Sunday morning May 14, 2017 in Nephi, Utah. Wess was born June 25, 1936 in Reno, Nevada to Wesley Sherman and Maude Elizabeth Allen. He spent his early years moving around where there was a working gold or silver mine. He quit school at the age of fifteen to strike out on his own, where having many different opportunities of employment, he eventually became a heavy duty mechanic and supported his family that way. He married the love of his life Betty Marie Winn on December 14, 1956 in Nephi, Utah. They had 60 long wonderful years together. They moved to Las Vegas in 1960 where he found employment at the Nevada Test Site in 1962. In 1968 they would move to Pahrump, Nevada where they finished raising their family.
He enjoyed being a member of the Nye county search and rescue as well as Nye county reserve deputy sheriff. He loved going to black powder rendezvous, riding the sand dunes on his ATV's, taking trail rides with Betty, hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. But, most of all he enjoyed anything with his family. After early retirement in 1988 they moved to Nephi, Utah to be near their family. There he continued to live life to its fullest doing all the things he loved (especially getting to know his grandchildren better and welcoming his great grandchildren into his life).
He is survived by his wife Betty, his three children, Lynn Wesley (Cyndi) Allen of Sandy, Utah, Clyde Delano (Sheila) Allen of Highland, Utah, Faith Marie (Clyde) Bingham of Payson, Utah, and his 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother John Murrin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Nephi 5th Ward building (345 East 500 North) at 12:00 noon with a viewing Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M.in the same location.
