Wayne Robert Sayers

Obituary
Wayne Robert Sayers passed away at his home in Eagle Mountain, Utah on November 21, 2018 at the age of 76. Wayne was born on October 14, 1942 in Oshawa, Ontario Canada to Earl and Dorothy Sayers.  He was the oldest of five children.

Wayne served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Nui Island from 1962-1964.  He met his beautiful wife of 40 years, Sharon Joyce Ingram, at a Christmas fireside in California.  They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on July 26, 1969.

He graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.  While there, he was a member of the International Folk Dance Company and the a cappella choir.  Always musically talented, he played the guitar, trumpet and bagpipes.  He played the trumpet for the Oshawa Civic Band and sang with various choirs.  He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.  He always had a story to tell and a joke for any occasion.

He was very patriotic.  He was proud of his military service, serving both in the Canadian Regiment and the United States Army, 173 Airborne Division.  He traveled and worked all over the world, making friends everywhere he went.  He was a hard worker and always sacrificed to provide for his family.  He faithfully served many church callings.

He is survived by his sister Sandra Cook, brother Craig Sayers, children Dea Lund, Damon Sayers, Joshua Sayers and Jolene Sayers, as well as 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Earl Sayers, brother Lee Sayers and sweet wife Sharon.

He lived a full, magnificent life, and words can never do him justice.  We love him and will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 7944 N. Smith Ranch Rd, Eagle Mountain, UT 84005. A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
