Wayne Rex McDonald passed away on July 13, 2021, surrounded by his sweetheart Glenna of 56 years and his three daughters, Melanie, Michelle and Missy.
Wayne was born on Halloween, October 31, 1942, to Wayne and Anna McDonald in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the oldest of 5 children. He married his eternal sweetheart, Glenna, on July 9, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
He graduated from Granite High School in 1960 and then served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in The Netherlands, and upon his return to Utah, he attended LDS Business College.
Wayne spent most of his career working at Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake. During that time, he had many roles, including Branch Manager and General Sales Manager. He loved being known as "The Twinkie Man" around town and enjoyed dressing up as often as possible to hand out Twinkies at schools, grocery stores, and Halloween at the McDonald's residence.
Wayne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church callings over the years, but the one near and dear to his heart was serving along with his wife for 5 years as a Missionary for the Addiction Recovery Program.
Wayne loved to cook; no one was allowed in his kitchen. He was truly a culinary master. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends camping, fishing, hunting, boating, horseback riding, four-wheeling, golfing, and cheering on his beloved Utah Utes.
Wayne loved supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting events, especially the Juab Wasps' American Fork Caveman and Verrado Vipers.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Glenna of Nephi, his daughters, Melanie (Rick) Malkemus of Buckeye, AZ, Michelle (David) Stephenson of Highland, UT, and Missy (Cody) Higginson of Nephi, UT, siblings Denis (Peggy) McDonald of Murray, UT and Kathy (Dan) Buyers of Star Valley, WY, his sister-in-law Lynn McDonald of Murray, UT, grandchildren, Colten (Liz) Higginson, Annie (Jaxon) Warr, Elder Aidan Stephenson (currently serving a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rochester, NY), Rily Higginson and Makena Malkemus, and great grandchildren Forrest and Magnolia Higginson. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
