Wallace Rex Kay

Wallace Rex Kay died quietly on his 90th birthday, February 19, 2021, after a peaceful afternoon with the love of his life, Gaye Ellertson Kay, who had been by his side for over 70 years.
Wallace was born February 19, 1931 in Mona, Utah to James Loras Kay and Ada Rosetta Searle Kay. He grew up on the family farm and learned to love farming and operating equipment. After graduating from Juab High School he married his sweetheart, Alta Gaye Ellertson on November 10, 1950. They started their married life in their hometown, Mona, Utah, around family and friends. Wallace farmed and worked for several companies before starting his own excavating business. He could operate a bulldozer as good as anyone in the industry. After 40 years in business, he retired to his farm and gained a love for travel and spending time with his friends and his sweetheart Gaye.
But, more than anything he was a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with them camping, herding cattle, farming, and family parties. With his fun spirit and kind heart he was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Survived by his beloved companion, Alta Gaye Ellertson Kay and their 6 children and spouses: Terry (Cheryl) Kay, Richard (Lucinda) Kay, Tonya (Patrick) Painter, Blair (JaNae) Kay, Mark (Jamie) Kay, Drew (Charlotte) Kay; 32 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Loras and Ada Kay; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Iris Bonvie, Myrtle Vest, Elmo Kay, and 1 grandson, Bobbie Arlin Stephensen.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Doctors and Staff at Central Valley Medical Center, Laurel Groves Assisted Living Center and Hospice Nurses. They are also grateful to his children and spouses for 6 years of loving care after a serious stroke.
Family Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021.
Interment will follow in the Mona City Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Anderson's Funeral Home, Nephi, Utah.
