Vernon Andrew DeSpain, 77, passed peacefully on April 28, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Doris Allred and Ira Vasco DeSpain in East Ely, Nevada on September 9, 1937. He grew up in Centerfield, Utah. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Vern's loving family includes: Lois (wife), Verna (daughter deceased) and Randy, Cheryl (daughter), Melanie (daughter), Jason (son), Kim (daughter) and Scott, Marcy (daughter) and Jared, Bryan (son) and Trisonya, Scott (son) and Sheri, Kip (son) and Michelle, Brett (son) and Christy, Crissi (daughter) and Bruce, Darin (son deceased), Shawn (son), Lisa (daughter) and Jim, Shane (son) and Kimmi, 42 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and many other family members. Vern was a mountain of a man with an even bigger heart and spirit. A loving family man, a talented artist and a gifted craftsman, Vern left behind a grand legacy. Behind his tough, strong exterior he was a great friend and confidant to all with endless unconditional love. His mischievous grin and the twinkle in his eye told us everything we needed to know. A great spirit in life and now a great spirit in Heaven. 'Til we meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday evening and 1 hour prior to the service. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
