Valeene Field

Valeene Twitchell Field, 96, returned to her heavenly home March 5, 2019. Valeene was a loyal wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother faithful sister, aunt and friend.

Valeene was born July 16, 1922 in Lyman, Wyoming to Frank and Myrtle Twitchell. She was raised and attended schools in Lyman. She attended Utah State University for one year. On March 22, 1944 she married Joe Field in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six children.

After their marriage Joe served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. When he returned home to Lyman, they bought their farm two and one-half miles north of Lyman where they raised their family. Joe and Valeene enjoyed working with their children on the farm. Many days the family retired after working long hours but with the joy of helping each other and the satisfaction of accomplishment. Each child carried these characteristics into adulthood and have thanked their parents numerous times.

Valeene was a great cook and seamstress, talents that she shared as a 4-H leader. Her mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, biscuits, pies and bread will be fondly remembered by her family. Valeene would shop for attractive apparel, return home and duplicate that item for a fraction of the cost and without a pattern. Each spring as soon as the frost left, she planted petunias, a large garden and cared for a very large yard.

Singing was very important to Valeene's family as she grew up and a natural talent she enjoyed throughout her adult life. She enjoyed singing alto with her sisters and in various choirs.

Valeene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and served a full-time senior mission in the Micronesian Islands. All of Valeene's six children have also served missions.

She was born and spent her entire life in Lyman, Wyoming until her ninetieth birthday. During her ninety-first year she fell and broke both hips and both arms. She moved to Utah to be near her daughter and children.

Valeene is survived by her children, Nancy (Rob) Morrison, Howard (Mary) Field, Ernie (Jeani) Field, Ren (Catherine) Field and Mary Jo (Doug) Holm, Nancy Lee Field, Sharon Field, 38 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, siblings Ann (Jim) Turner, Jean (Ivan) Bluemel, and Jerry (Patty-Lynne) Twitchell.

Valeene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Field, son Wayne Field, brother Rulon Twitchell, and sisters Marcelle Carter, Thelma Wall, Becky Micheli, and Duella Rollins.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 127 N. Main, Lyman, Wyoming. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m. followed by the funeral at noon.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Symbii Hospice for their loving care.
