Uti Hof Blanchard

Uti Hof Blanchard, 86, of Sandy, Utah died November 19, 2022. Uti was born to Artur August and Elli Hof in 1936 in Germany. She is survived by her husband Jay Blanchard and her son, Reiner Mathias and her stepchildren Pam Peebles, Teresa McFarland and Lance Blanchard. She is also survived by many grandchildren, Emily Mathias, Crystal Mathias, Brandon Peebles, Jason Peebles, Corbet Peebles, Krystle McFarland, Kody McFarland, and Tori Blanchard. She is survived by her siblings, Goetz Hof (twin brother), Jutta Hasper, Waltraud Honig-Holtz, Elke Dieffenbach, Dieter Dieffenbach, Terry Blanchard and Jeanette Blanchard.

In her early twenties, Uti moved to Rome, Italy where she made her career translating foreign movies and became a dubbing producer/director. Uti spoke German, Italian and English. She was the English voice of the Italian beloved cartoon “Calimero”. She moved to the United States of America in her mid-thirties and became the Media Director of the BYU Motion Picture Department in Provo, Utah.

Uti was most known for her kindness, cooking and community service. “You have two hands” she was fond of telling me “One to help yourself the other to help others.” And use her hands she did; she knitted hundreds of sweaters and beanie hats for the homeless. She cooked many delicious dinners for friends, neighbors, family, and those in need. Her smile, love, words, and hugs will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the LDS Hillcrest 4th Ward on 8735 Harvard Park Drive, Sandy, UT 84094. There will be a viewing at 10 am and the funeral will start at 11 am.
