Tyson Knudsen

Our hard-working, fun-loving Tyson returned to his Heavenly Father on April 16th, 2019 after a courageous battle with addiction. We choose to believe this was a victory for him, and for all of us who fought alongside him. He never gave up.

Born on September 11th, 1989, Ty spent his growing up years in Henefer, Utah, hiking to the "H", hunting snakes and frogs, and building bike jumps. Tyson graduated High School from 2 schools, both Triumph Youth Academy and North Summit High School. His talents were many, including playing the Baritone and Trumpet, Football, and Baseball, Snowboarding, and above all, Basketball. He was always looking for a game to either play or watch, and his love for the Jazz was well known. He also had a gift with statistics and was very proud of his fantasy teams, which usually won first by a clear margin.

The most important thing in Tyson's life was his family. He was so proud of his dad and the family business, and loved to laugh with his mom. He gave all of his siblings a special nickname and was referred to as T-Bear in return. He spent a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa Behunin, a/k/a 'JB'. He loved the hours he spent at their home, hanging out and mowing lawn. But his nieces were the light of his life, and he treasured moments teasing and snuggling with them.

With a lion's heart, this fine man gave everything he had to friends and strangers, including his shoes and a shower to a homeless man or bumming Diet Cokes off of grandma and making cookies for his "friends downtown." On the football field he played center, and could be heard from the sidelines rallying the team with encouragement. He was a cheerleader for the human spirit, and carried this special talent throughout his life into the world of addiction recovery, where he spent most of his adult years. He was always cheering us on! Those who know him will agree that his example of love and friendship is unequaled. For this greatest of all gifts he will be remembered.

We will remember his humor, his light-heartedness, his impressive work ethic, and we love and respect him and his un-daunting spirit.

He is preceded in death by his baby brother Joshua Tanner. He is survived by his loving and grateful parents, Wade and Robyn Knudsen, his brother Mitchell Knudsen (Lora Knudsen), Henefer, McKay Knudsen (Samantha Knudsen), Evanston, Lux Knudsen, Sugarhouse, Kambree Knudsen, Henefer, his beautiful nieces Atlee, Brailee and Elizabeth Knudsen, grandparents Larry and Claudia Knudsen of St. George and John and Linda Behunin of West Valley, and many aunts and uncles and cousins who enjoyed his playful nature.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019, at the Henefer Ward Chapel, with a viewing on Monday evening, April 22nd, 2019, from 6-8 and previous to the funeral on Tuesday at 9:30. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, where he will rest with his brother. 4335 West, 4100 South, West Valley City.
