Troy Don Sample

With devasted hearts we announce the passing of Troy Don Sample on October 6, 2022. Troy was born in Murray on February 5, 1967 to George and Connie Sample. Troy was a beloved son, brother, father, and husband. Troy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Troy loved to play and teach others the game of golf, one of his most favorite past times. He had a one handicap and could hit the ball off the tee with his putter and make it fly. Troy also shared his mom’s passion for the New York Yankees and watched every game. He will love to watch his Yankees in this year’s playoffs. He also loved BYU football and frequently watched the games with his family.

Troy was a wonderful story teller with an astounding memory. He loved regaling his friends with stories of his childhood adventures. Everyone you ask has amazing stories about his sense of humor, his generosity, and the laughter he brought with him.

Troy was a great friend who would share everything he had. Troy was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to those in need. He was a caregiver and always checked on his friends and family to make sure that everyone was okay. Troy touched so many lives. He had created bonds that lasted from his childhood growing up in Murray.

Troy was adored by his dad, mom, and sister and spent time with them every week. Troy called daily to check in on them. Troy loved and prioritized family; he loved his mom and missed her every day. He spent time each week tidying up and placing fresh flowers on his sister’s and mom’s graves.

Troy spent 25 years of his life with Marci and was married for nearly 22 of those years. There was much love together as they created a forever family that was sealed together for the eternities in the Salt Lake Temple with their daughter MaKalee. Above all else – Troy loved his daughter MaKalee. Troy loved being a father and spending time with his daughter. He took such pride and joy in talking about her every day, and always considered himself lucky to be her dad. He always looked forward to doing things with her from golf, motorcycle rides, daddy daughter dances, to scaring each other as one would walk around the corner. She will carry on his sense of humor and love for others.

Troy is preceded in death by his mom, Connie Sample, sister Lori Ann, sister-in-law Cami Oborn, along with grandparents and cousins.

He is survived by his wife Marci Sample, daughter MaKalee Sample, father George Sample, sister Sheri Sample, brother Jay Sample, his wife Chris, and nieces Adrian Ward and Danielle Hawks, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws that will love and miss him and carry on his legacy and love of life.
