Trent Russell Newbold

Trent Newbold of Taylorsville, Utah passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2022. He was born May 23rd, 1960, to Gary and Maureen Newbold. Trent grew up in Bennion, Utah and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1978. Trent was an avid hunter, fisher and outdoorsman. When he was not outdoors, he was in his woodshop where he enjoyed turning wood on his lathe or building furniture. He found joy in gifting to friends and family the beautiful vases, bowls, duck calls, pens, spice grinders and keychains he had made on his lathe. He won several awards in local art shows for his turnings. Above all, he loved being with his daughter Sammy. They had an unbreakable bond; they truly were best friends. She was what he lived for. Trent battled Multiple Myeloma for nearly 6 years but was in remission at the time of his passing.

Trent is survived by his daughter Sammy (Dakoda) May, mother Maureen and her husband Paul Keil, brothers Shane (Teresa) and Val (Connie), sister Denise (Dan) Beggs, 5 nieces and a nephew, the mother of his daughter Patricia Johnson whom he had spent 30 years with and her granddaughter Hope Johnson. Preceded in death by father Gary, grandparents and great grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1st at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 31st, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute BMT Unit for their love, friendship and most of all, the chance to spend the last 5 ½ years with Trent. The gift of time is priceless.
