Thomas Gourley Tranter, age 74, died Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.
Born in Salt Lake City on September 26, 1947, to Alma Collins and Gertrude Gourley Tranter, Tom was the father of two daughters, Lesley and Ashley Tranter.
Tom attended BYU Hawaii and the University of Utah, then served an LDS mission in central Florida. He returned to Florida, where he attended Rollins College and obtained a degree as a commercial paint estimator.
Although Tom loved his Florida home, he never lost his love for the Utah mountains and the Utah seasons. He loved skiing, trail biking, and target shooting. In Florida, he enjoyed saltwater fishing off the shore of New Smyrna Beach. He loved hunting trips to South Dakota with friends and his travel to Germany and Switzerland.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Lesley and Ashley, of Orlando, Florida; Ian Martin, of Orlando, Florida; his sisters, Joene Tranter and Sheila Sannar, of Yuba City, California; his nieces, Jeri Ann Dale and Andrea Blackham, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother David.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 7, at Nephi City Cemetery in Nephi, Utah.
