Thomas Junior (Stack) Starkovich (10-31-1926 to 1-15-2018), a lifelong Midvale resident and local historian, passed away in his sleep after a good dinner and a bedtime Boost. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Olson (Oakland, CA), and her two children: Marilyn and John. Stack was a WWII vet, an iron worker, an avid reader with an iron-trap memory for detail and statistics, and a walker. In the 50s and 60s, he kept the asphalt of Midvale's streets and the surroundings warm on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, until it was stolen from his 6th Ave home. After the theft, he took up walking. He attributed his longevity to his long daily walks.
Graveside service at Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South, on Saturday 1-20-18 at 11 am.
