Thomas L. Matley 80, resident of Deming passed away at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, Monday, February 20, 2017.
Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints on Friday, February 24, 2017 at eleven o'clock in the morning. Bishop Jason Nicoll will conduct. Committal services will be in Midvale, Utah under the direction of Goff Mortuary.
Thomas Leroy Matley was born to Raymond Hone Matley and Ann Matilda Hartshorn on August 21, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Soon after high school, Thomas went into the Trucking Industry where he worked for 47 years. He began as a loader, then to driving and eventually became supervisor. He met his loving wife Evelyn Johanson and has been married for 32 years. Tom had many hobbies including playing and watching golf, and he enjoyed playing tennis in his youth. He also liked watching professional football. Tom loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all very dearly.
Tom is survived by his wife, Evelyn Matley, sons; Anthony (Kate) Matley of Chandler, AZ., Paul (Lucy) Mace of Sugarland, TX., daughters; Tammy (Tony) Vega of Sandy, UT., Robyn (Jeff) Mulcahy Sandy UT., Monica Wallace, Michelle (Shannon) Jerram of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Tom has many friends in both Deming and the Salt Lake Area, he will be greatly missed by all of them.
He is preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Ann; son, Michael Matley and sister, Gerry Baxter.
Funeral services will be held at Goff Mortuary in Midvale, Utah at 11 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
