Thelda Marie Ewell

Our sweet angel mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend returned to our Heavenly Father peacefully on September 5, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Thelda Marie Jones Ewell was born in Bacchus, Utah to Earl F Jones and Mary Alice Meik on May 25, 1935. Thelda graduated from Cyprus High School. She married her sweetheart Darrell George Ewell on June 25, 1954 in Salt Lake City. She and Darrell settled in Midvale, Utah in 1956. She worked for Granite School District, JC Penney's in Midvale and Midvale Elementary where she retired after 35 years as a teacher's aide. Thelda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Primary President and in the Stake Primary Presidency as secretary. She was faithful to her beliefs to the end.

Thelda loved to crochet and sew. She crafted many beautiful afghans, doilies and other items to which her family members were often the recipients. She had a love of reading. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, camping, fishing and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

She is survived by her children Ken (Julie), Sandra (Tom) Adams, Tammy (Russell) Gardner, Cary (Natalie) and Jodi Ewell, 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, brothers Roy and Brent Jones, and sister Afton Austin.

Thelda is preceded in death by her sweetheart Darrell, grandson Darrell Hugh Ewell, sister Margie Street, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2017 at the Midvale Fourth Ward, 7825 S. Olympus St., Midvale, UT at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

The family would like to thank Sagewood Memory Care (Mindy and Staff) for the wonderful care and love they gave our mother for the past 18 months, Comfort Works Hospice (Natalie and Jordan) for their exemplary care before her passing and Goff Mortuary in Midvale for the services they rendered after her passing.
