Steven Harold Parkin (69), beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on September 15, 2021 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.
Steve was born November 2, 1951 to Harold and Louise Parkin in Payson, Utah. He graduated from Juab High School in 1970. Shortly after graduation he attended Basic Training in South Carolina. He married his sweetheart, Joann Bateman on February 15, 1974 then on their 22nd wedding anniversary they were sealed as a family on February 15, 1996 in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they raised 4 children: Patrick Steven, Jason Dean, Aaron Harold, and Stephanie.
Steve loved classic cars and trucks. He enjoyed mechanics and tinkering in his shop with his kids and grandkids. He drove semi-trucks for the majority of his life, which deep down he loved. He worked hard and tried to instill in his kids the knowledge and work ethic that his Dad taught to him. He was a firm believer in giving people his word and keeping his promises. Always telling his kids and grandkids, "Remember who you are," "You are a Parkin," and "I love you more than the mountains." He served his country in Operation Desert Storm and had a 23 year long career with the Utah National Guard.
Steven is survived by his wife Joann, of 47 years, his children: Patrick, Jason, Aaron, and Stephanie, his 10 grandchildren who adored him: CJ, Tyler, Sydney, Kimberly, Sabria, Jacelyn, Nora Lynn, Braxton, Journee, and Brady, siblings: Diana (Duane) Painter, Hanalee Swenson, and Jim Parkin, Craig Bateman (brother-in-law), and Lawana Bateman (mother-in-law). Preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Jeffery, sister Nancy, and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 21 at 11 am with a viewing one hour prior at the Nephi Fifth Ward church, 345 E. 500 N. in Nephi, also Monday night 6 to 8 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. in Nephi.
