Steven was born on December 19, 1958 in the Old Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was raised in Coalville, Utah  where he learned to fish, hunt and live off the land by his Grandfather, G. Talen Morby who he loved and admired his entire life. His love of the land and great presence led to his endearing nickname, 'Mountain Man Morby'.  Steven loved motorcycles from an early age until the day he died.  He would often say 'Any day riding is a good day' and he was more often than not, seen riding his Harley who he fondly named Bertha.  He was a life-long self-taught mechanic and he loved working on cars and motorcycles.

At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army where he served in Warren Michigan.  There he received his GED, served his country and was honorably discharged from the service in June 1979.

He met and married Evelyn Lila Mukhar during the summer of 1980 and they were later sealed in the temple. They had three sons, divorced in 2004 and remained good friends.

Steven went into business for himself just as his parents and grandparents before him.  In the 1980s, he started Utah Custom Craft, building and selling custom furniture.  He later started R.M. Stevens his own job placement firm where he placed many CEO's and Vice Presidents with companies such as Phonex and Merit Medical.  In 1992, Steven founded NYB corp, a major clothing line which sold to JC Penny worldwide.  Steven later worked as the National Sales Manager for Spillman INC. He was also Vice President of Sales and Marketing for QTS in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Steven loved those around him with all his heart and will be dearly missed.  He will be laid to rest with his two infant sons in Coalville, Utah on Monday April 13, 2015 at 1pm at the Coalville City Cemetery.  Those wishing to attend and pay their respects should plan on meeting at Goff Mortuary at 12:00 pm located at 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah. His brother Tim will lead the procession to the Coalville cemetery on his beloved Bertha. Following the graveside, there will be a celebration of his life in Draper at the Crescent 28th Ward at 11626 South 300 East.  The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made directly to Goff Mortuary to assist with funeral expenses.
