Stanley Albert Arko passed away on December 30, 2014 after 90 good years. Stan was born to Alojzius and Franciska Mihelic Arko on February 3, 1924 in Yugoslavia. He emigrated to America when he was six years old with his mother, 2 sisters, his brother and an aunt. Stan was happy to be in the United States.  Shortly after their arrival in Utah, his father passed away and Stan became the 'man of the house'. Stan worked hard helping his Mother take care of the family.

He is a graduate of Murray High. Stan served in the US army during World War II and his military unit was assigned as the occupation force in Nagasaki, Japan.  He witnessed first hand the devastation of atomic warfare.

He married Mary Fratto November 15, 1949.  They moved to Draper and later to White City, where they raised their 3 boys.  They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.

Stan was mechanically inclined and worked around heavy equipment all of his career, especially in farming equipment. He retired as a service representative for J. I. Case Tractor Company. He is well thought of and remembered in the farm community.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons and daughters-in-law, Lou (Charlene C.), Fred (Nola) and Allen (Charlene K.), 11 grandchildren (10 grandchildren-in-law) and 24 great-grandchildren, sister, Ann Wilson, sister-in-law, Mrytle Arko and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alta Ridge Care Center and especially Juan and Ali from Millcreek Healthcare.

There will be a viewing from 11:00 am to noon and a short memorial service from noon to 12:30 pm on January 3, 2015 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, UT.  Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S  1700 E, Sandy, UT
