Spencer is the son of Arthur Scott Mangels & Carol Denise Stevens Mangels.
Spencer lived a life of service from a young age. He was always noted as a friend you could go to and a brother you could count on. He was - and is - passionate about football, rugby, Spartan events, family, and Star Wars....and steak, he loved a good steak!
Spencer was dedicated to helping others find their personal value and live out their dreams. As a teen, he annually volunteered as a Diabetes Camp counselor, coaching youth how to deal with the emotional and physical struggles of diabetes. He served for a full summer at a youth work mission as second in command. As an adult, Spencer served as a volunteer fire fighter for 4 years. He also volunteered as a personal development coach for the last 2 years.
Throughout his life, Spencer's co-workers quickly became his friends. He was a dedicated worker, with a love of the people with whom he worked and served. Spencer's motto for life formed in his early scouting years - "leave it better than you found it." He applied this to everything he did and to every person he met.
Spencer is survived by his parents, 6 brothers, 12 sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandparents, and many, many friends.
We'll miss you Spencer. We look to that day we can be together again - debating who is the coolest Jedi. (Mom still thinks it is Han, and yes she knows he's not really a Jedi.) May the Force be with you, brother, 'til we meet again.
