Shirley B. Martin

Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother joined her sweetheart in heaven on January 7, 2016. She was born on March 24, 1926 in Nounan, Idaho to LeGrand Bartschi and Julia Lindsay. She grew up on the family farm and began caring for her father and siblings at the age of 7 following the death of her mother. She graduated from Montpelier High School and moved to Ogden, Utah, beginning her love of sewing by working for Utah Woolen Mills. While in Utah, she met the love of her life, Laddie Martin. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and they made their home in Sandy, Utah. She was active in the LDS church and served in many callings in the Relief Society and Young Women programs. During their retirement years, they enjoyed doing temple work, traveling as tour guides for Hyde's Tours, and camping with the Good Sam Club. Her family was always her foremost concern and she spent all her time and energy taking care of so many.

She is survived by three children - E. Ray Martin, Don (Christine) Martin, and Nancy (Allen) Snow, 14 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Laddie, parents, brother Max, and daughter-in-law Joan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 12 noon at the Crescent 11th Ward Chapel, 89 East 11000 South, Sandy Utah. Friends are invited to visit family members one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
