Shirla Dean LeFevre Neslen passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy, Utah on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the age of 76.
She was born May 28, 1940 in Spry, Utah; a daughter of George Owen and Anna Marie Moore LeFevre.
She married Richard Lee Hofeling July 9, 1960, they were later divorced. She married Mark Edward Neslen on September 15, 1973.
Shirla grew up on a farm in Spring Lake, Utah. She loved to ride horses and enjoyed working outdoors on the farm. She could handle any kind of work in the fields or on the farm. Shirla graduated from Payson High School. She went on to take a course in Salt Lake where she learned to use a comptometer, the first commercially successful key-driven calculator. She found employment with Safeway, at their headquarters in the Salt Lake City Area. She advanced to Payroll Manager while working at Safeway. Shirla later worked for Leucadia as their Payroll Manager until her retirement. Late in her career, Shirla and Mark had a farm in Spring Lake; she would commute from Salt Lake each weekend to enjoy her time on their farm.
Shirla loved the outdoors, she often could be found enjoying a trip to the zoo or a hike in the beautiful Utah canyons with her family.
She is survived by her children Richard Wade (Ronette) Hofeling, Glenn (Jamie) Neslen and Debra Neslen; grandchildren Thor Hofeling, Marshay (Marcelo) Juarez, Bram and Mavenie Hofeling, Brittany (Nick) Lawter, Jake Neslen and Keagan Neslen; sister Maurine Wilson; brother Keith (Donna) LeFevre; sister-in-law Alta LeFevre. She has many nieces and nephews who loved her and when the next generation joined in, everyone enjoyed calling her Great Aunt Shirla because she was so GREAT. She also enjoyed time spent with many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mark; son, Derek; brothers, Clarence and Lloyd; sister, Maxine and brother-in-law, Mont Wilson.
A viewing will be held for friends and family at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and a funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing at 7:00 pm. A graveside dedication will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 12 noon at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
