Heaven gained another angel with the passing of our sweet Shelley Kay Mair Sargent on September 1, 2016 after many years of struggling with illness. Shelley was born in Coalville, Utah on November 3, 1965 to Marvin A. and Beverly Jean Carter Mair. She lived in Echo all of her life until marrying Anthony Dean (Tony) Sargent in 1984 just after graduating from North Summit High School; they later divorced. Shelley was a member of the LDS Church and involved with FFA and sports and was one of the first employees at Echo Resort. In her early married life she enjoyed traveling and her pet raccoon. She loved being a mother to Cody and Garret, her two sons, and loved everything to do with the outdoors; including animals, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. She worked for years as an assistant manager at the Park Plaza Resort in Park City, other retail stores in that area, and at the Echo Canyon information center.
Shelley loved her family and would make daily phone calls to her Grandma Hilda and Uncle Brent in Wyoming and other family members. She loved family parties and celebrations of every kind. She had a special relationship with her younger brother Rick and counted him one of her best friends, along with her very best friend and dog Scrappy.
She will be missed by her parents, her sons Cody Dean (Diane) and Garret M. (Keisha) with baby Sargent due in October, her brother Rick (Laura), Grandma Hilda and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Arnold Mair, Curtis Carter, Faye B. Jones, and step-grandfather Sherman Jones, uncles Dennis Mair, Ronnie Mair, and Bruce Carter, cousins Dennis Kale Mair and Cody Mair.
The family would like to express their thanks to Tony for his continued support, Summit County Sheriff's Deputies Bates, Hemingway, Trussell and Crnich, and also to Tracy with Goff Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at the Henefer LDS church on Monday, September 12 at noon with interment at the Henefer Cemetery. Friends may call at the viewing on Sunday evening from 6-8 or on Monday at 10:30 prior to the funeral. Services are under the direction of Goff Mortuary.
