On February 1, 2023, our much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Shelia Sperry Jordison, returned home to her Heavenly Father and into the loving arms of her parents and brothers. Shelia was born on May 18, 1947 in Payson, Utah. She was the second of six children born to Samuel Jay Sperry and Alene Roylance Sperry and grew up in small-town Nephi.
After graduating from Juab High School, she moved to Salt Lake City where she attended LDS Business College. Just credits short of getting her degree, she got a job with the Bureau of Land Management and moved to Oakland, California. After leaving the BLM, she returned to Utah where she met and married Clyde Jordison, soon after welcoming their daughter Alycia. Though later divorced, it was through Clyde she found a love for Harley Davidsons and was given the handle of “motorcycle mama” when they rode with the Salt Lake Motor Cycle Club. Shelia then worked for Cowboy Properties/Prowswood for 36 years before retiring in 2013.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings in both the Primary and Relief Society. She loved spending time with family, had a talent for crocheting, spent many years crafting (tole painting, making/stamping cards, and quilting), enjoyed reading endless books, going to plays, and traveling—especially to Disneyland!
Shelia was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in her late twenties—a disease with which she fought valiantly to the very end of her life. With her weakened immune system and respiratory function, she could ultimately not fight off the RSV she contracted early in January.
She is survived by her daughter, Alycia Jordison; fiercely loved grandkids Bria and Samuel; sister, Janet Bacon; brothers, David (Debbie) Sperry, Richard (Brenda) Sperry; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Brent Sperry, Gregory Sperry; sister-in-law, Sharon Sperry; brother-in-law, Richard Bacon; nephew, David-Lloyd Sperry; and niece, Laura Wall.
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at the Suncrest Ward chapel located at 5422 South Sarah Jane Drive at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street in Midvale, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6th and/or one hour prior to services at the church.
