In tribute, we announce that Sheldon Maurice Lewis, who used his body too much when it was new, has passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 87.
Sheldon was born on May 19, 1937 in Marion, Utah, to William W Lewis and Clarissa A Clawson, who taught him the value of hard physical work. As Sheldon learned to be mighty in body, he also learned to be mighty in mind and spirit. He graduated with honors at Utah State University and faithfully served a mission in Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Armed with his faith, education, and determination, he started his family and was briefly a resident of California (nobody is perfect). After which, he repented and returned to Utah where his faith expanded and so did his family! With his large family, he persisted in a life of hard work, virtue, religious leadership, ... and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother DeVar, wife Charlene (Davey), son Lawrence, grandsons Kyle and Elias, great granddaughter Dixie, and others.
He is survived by his wives Carole, Genevieve (Gena), Aleta, Linda Marie, Claudine (Toni), and Karen, He is also survived by 29 children, step children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many others who loved and respected him.
He will be remembered as a man who worked honestly and stood tall, and as a man who faced death with an indomitable spirit!
Services will be held at the Rocky Ridge Church on Monday September 30. There will be a closed-casket open house from 9am to 10:45am. Funeral service at 11am. After which, his body will be laid to rest in Rocky Ridge Cemetery.
