Sharon Greenwood Cowley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 15, 2024. She was born in Murray, Utah on May 5, 1935, to Paul and Norene Van Dam Greenwood. Sharon grew up in Sandy, Utah where she met her future husband Tommy Cowley while attending Sandy Elementary. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1954. Together they raised eight children.
Sharon worked hard and taught her family the value of integrity and service. She was constantly moving and serving others. A common phrase was "What can I get you?" On rare occasions when you would find her sitting; she would be crocheting, reading, or playing games with her family. Sharon loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She offered her unwavering support to her family and was always putting others' needs before her own. She taught by example and instilled in her children a love for The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sharon served with dedication and love as secretary in Primary and Relief Society for many years.
Sharon is survived by her 8 children: Jerry (Juleen), Bob (Tammy), Susie (Terry), Patty, Steve (Kris), Scott, Brian (Sara), and Jason (Diane); as well as 29 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.
Sharon was ready to join her husband and all her family that had preceded her in death. The family wishes to express special thanks to Lea, Danielle, and Dr. Tschetter from Dignity Home Health, Hospice and Goff Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Jordan 3rd Ward Chapel, 8950 So. 400 East, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held at that same location on Thursday, March 28 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at Sandy City Cemetery.
