After fighting endometrial metastatic cancer for 15 years, Shannon Rasmussen Faulkner, age 74, passed away at her home on January 29, 2025. Shannon was born April 13, 1950, in Murray, Utah, to Weldon Andrus (Sonne) Rasmussen and Ramona Leak Rasmussen. She was the youngest of six children.
Shannon spent her growing up years in Draper when it was still an idyllic place to grow up. After graduating from Jordan High School she attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1972. Shannon served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Italy Catania Mission. She worked in several different departments for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, retiring after a combination of 44 full/part time years. Shannon received her greatest enjoyment in life by spending time with her family. Other interests included traveling, reading, and cooking.
Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lavern Faulkner in October 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Christensen (Douglas, former son-in-law) and Angie (Michael) Davis. She will be greatly missed by her four granddaughters, Mikaela, Alyssa, and Brianna Christensen, and Ramona Davis, and her favorite grandson, Percy Davis. Shannon is also survived by her brothers, Lane and Jeff and her sister, Dianne Rasmussen Allan. Two other young women who were exchange students with the family but whom she considered as daughters are Aicholpon Jorepkova of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and Agata Safranova, originally from Turkmenistan but now of Moscow, Russia.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Utah Cancer Center, especially Doctor Litton and Dr. Booth.
