Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother of 92 years passed away peacefully the evening of July 31st, surrounded by family members. Seferina was born September 12, 1929 to Frank Lopez and Andrea Vigil in Ocate, New Mexico. On December 2, 1944 she married Carlos S. Lucero in Dawson, New Mexico, and so began the blossoming of a beautifully large family.
Seferina worked in many occupations, her favorite of which was as a cook. She enjoyed passing down the skills she learned in cooking and other life experiences to many members of her family. In addition to cooking, Seferina had numerous other hobbies and enjoyments including traveling to visit family, playing cards and bingo, gambling, reading, listening and dancing to music, gardening, watching western movies, beading jewelry, and camping. But above all, she enjoyed hosting and attending gatherings where she would be surrounded by all five generations of her family.
Seferina is survived by her children Vivian Rich, Gloria Martinez (Roger), Carlos R., Margaret Pritchard (Bill), Lorenzo (Loretta), Dorothy Valdez (Lawrence), Frank (Nina), Danny (Mindy), Victoria, and Rebecca; 36 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 48 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos; her parents; her children, Leroy, Jimmy, Natividad, and Emerita; several grandchildren/great-grandchildren/great-great grandchildren; and all five of her siblings. The fond memories Seferina created, her love for family, and her legacy will live on forever.
