Scott Andrew Keachie

Scott Andrew Keachie, 45, passed away Monday morning, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Those who knew Scott fondly remember an open hearted, loving, loyal soul who at any given moment could catch you off guard with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. While he could fix your computer or router with his eyes closed, and a sarcastic comment about user error, his heart pounded to the beat of a drum.

Scott had a deep, lifelong love for music which was a passion that shaped his life in a profound way. Attending West High School in Salt Lake City, Scott was a proud member of the competition marching band drum corp. Later in life he became an award-winning Scottish drummer with the Galloway Highlanders, Utah Pipe Band and the Salt Lake City Fire Department bagpipe band. Whether playing an instrument or simply sharing his joy of music with others, Scott was known to pick up any instrument he found interesting and play it by ear. He had the ability to inspire music in those around him.

Scott met the love of his life Brittny while working a graveyard shift at the Brickyard Harmons. They were married March 11, 2006 and later sealed together for all eternity in the Jordan River Temple August 1, 2009, becoming parents a few years later.

Scott was not only a loving father, but also his son’s best friend. He took great joy in being a constant presence in his son’s life, always ready for an adventure, whether it was battling with lightsabers in the living room or building intricate Lego creations together. Their bond was one of pure joy, laughter and endless imagination.

Scotts playful spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by his mother Jane Peacock Keachie, grandparents David and Thelma Keachie, sister in-law Lindsay Urry and grandparents Ken and Irene Peacock.

Survived by his wife Brittny Keachie, son Liam, sister Angelia Keachie, father Dave Keachie, dad and mom in-law Gene and Cindy Urry, brother in-laws Austin (Kaci) and Geno (Stacie), and sister in-laws Amanda (Travis), Shelly (Mario) and Haylee (Keelan). As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

We are so grateful to the doctors and nurses at Huntsman cancer institute for being the warriors with Scott in his battle. You will forever be in our hearts.
