Santiaga Falcon

Our beloved mother and grandmother slipped away silently after a long struggle with complications due to shingles on Feb. 21, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Alicia Nielsen. She was born in Geronimo, Texas on July 25, 1915 to immigrant farmers, Benigno & Francisca Hernandez who immigrated from Piedras Negras, Cuaila, Mexico. She was the youngest of 10 children and married the oldest of 10 children, Esteban de la Garza Falcon on July 15, 1939. They had four children together, Steve, David, Alicia and Virginia. Santiaga lived a full life in Corpus Christi, TX and later moved with her daughters to settle in SLC, UT. Santiaga (Jamie), was a faithful member of the LDS Church whose parents converted to the faith after listening to Mormon missionaries preaching on a street corner. She enjoyed attending the temple often and doing genealogy work for her ancestry. She learned floral designing at a young age from a former domestic employer after her education was cut short in middle school in need to contribute to her family's well being. She had many creative virtues and always held a positive attitude with tolerance, compliments and encouragement. She loved beauty and was gifted in the natures of art. She taught herself to draw, sew and paint and always wished she could play the piano, so provided her daughters with private music lessons as well as her sons. She worked in many floral shops in her later life and created beautiful floral pieces of every nature. She retired at age 84 and was a dedicated, self sufficient, independent lady of high standards. She was naturally talented in fashion designing, gardening, and barbering. She loved music and dance and especially enjoyed Mexican mariachi and folkloric music. We will greatly miss her sweet nature and generous heart. She leaves an empty space in our lives but feel comforted that she is now with our Father in Heaven. "Till we meet again, be at peace dear mother and enjoy eternal life with our loved ones who have gone before us."

Santiaga is survived by two daughters, Alicia F. Nielsen and Virginia F. Baldi (Alvaro), 15 grandchildren, Davie, Phillip, Margaret, Lorie, Cathy, Steven, Victor, Julie Anne, Peter, Michael , Jason, Jonni, Jenny, Joshua, and Holly, many great, grand, & great, great, grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benigno and Francisca Hernandez, 10 siblings, ex-husband, Esteban G. Falcon, and two sons, Steve C. Falcon and David G. Falcon.
