Sandy Ray Rees

SANDY RAY REES March 23, 1955 to May 3, 2016 After several days of struggling with his pain, Sandy laid down and gave himself to Our Heavenly Father and went to a better place where he could be made whole again. Sandy Ray Rees was born March 23, 1955 as the last child of the first four of eight children in Pleasanton, California. Sandy was an exceptional mechanic who built high performance cars that were the envy of any racing fan; his cars were extremely loud and extremely fast. Just as he liked them! He loved music and was most partial to soul. He could be seen rocking to Al Green, The Spinners and The Temptations. As gruff as he could be, Sandy was a lover of dawgs; he seemed to an expert about Cocker Spaniels. His stories and grief with the loss of Dude, Honey and Brandy showed his tender and loving nature that very few would know. Sandy was rough outside, but soft as a marshmallow inside. You really had to know him to love him. He could be crude and yet brutally honest. TEX had street smarts, but had insight to the ways of the world. No one ever got over on him. Sandy was a very private person and never let anyone close to his heart. After a prolonged illness a few years ago, he revealed a personal encounter that he did not quite understand, but after careful thought and reflection, he came to know Christ. Sandy was allowed to stay a little longer until Our Savior did call him home for his salvation. Sandy knows His Redeemer lives! Sandy is survived by his mother (Rose), three sisters (Vickie, Beckie and Jackie) and one brother (Lanny) who live in Salt Lake City, UT. He has two other brothers who live in Colorado Springs, CO (Danny) and Woods Cross, UT (Randy). Sandy also has a fourth sister (Mickie) who lives in Anchorage, AK. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, 12 May at the Aspen Funeral Home in Sandy, UT at 459 Universal Circle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps Auxiliary to support the Red Poppy program to raise money for wounded Marines and families of fellow Marines who died in the service of their country.
