Sandy passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2016 in South Jordan, Utah after a long battle with heart failure. She was born December 11, 1946 in Salt Lake City to Edward and Annie Gygi Butterfield. She graduated from Granite High School in 1965 and married John B. Poulson, the love of her life, on August 7th of that year. They adopted their daughter Amanda on July 19, 1978.
Sandy was the youngest of 18 children. She loved animals, people, her grandchildren, Starbucks Frappuccino's, black licorice, and bowling. Sandy was a member of the LDS faith. She was a collector of many items but especially cherished her vast cookie jar and antique toy collections. She cared for the many stray animals and people she came across and loved adopting shelter pets. Her "fur babies" always had the very best care. Sandy spent her Saturdays treasure hunting at every yard sale, swap meet, and flea market she could find. She loved the Utah Jazz, especially during the Stockton to Malone days.
She is survived by her daughter Amanda, her grandchildren Mckenna, Olivia, Ella, Aiden, and AJ; also by her siblings Sylvia Orr, Grace Atwood, Geraldine Jensen, Lawrence Butterfield, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Please consider adopting a homeless pet or making a donation to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in her name.
At her request her remains will be cremated. A memorial brunch will be held at her daughter's home on Saturday, October 29th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm for all who wish to attend. Please call or text 801-792-1861 for the address.
