Sandra was the wife of Ronald William Cordon, the daughter of Francis Paul Holst and Ethel Constance Lindbloom, the sister of Timothy Jan Holst and Thomas Anders Holst, the mother of Paul William Cordon, and grandmother of Kristin, Connie, and Kyle Cordon.
Sandy was an Illinois State Scholar who studied two years at Knox College in her hometown before transferring to and graduating from Utah State University. She taught music education in Blackfoot Idaho for two years. She met her husband Ronald William Cordon in Logan and their marriage was solemnized in the LDS temple in Logan, Utah in 1962. Sandy was widowed in 1967 after an automobile accident tragically claimed Ron's life while the couple were travelling with their son Paul to Seattle, Washington to commence Ron's career in broadcast journalism.
Sandra's lifelong passion was teaching grade school and junior high children. While in Logan, Utah she met Anna Lou Jeffs, the founder of the current Carden Memorial School. When the school opened in Salt Lake City, she moved as well and commenced a life-long vocation spanning five decades. She was actively teaching until her illness and death. Sandra especially enjoyed teaching Latin and classical literature. One of her favorites was teaching Dickens "Tale of Two Cities." Her influence and teaching has left a wonderful legacy for both students and teachers.
Sandy served faithfully as ward organist for 42 years in the Imperial 1st Ward. She was devout in her observance of the tenets of the LDS faith.
Her varied interests reflected Sandra's intellectual curiosity. She was a member of a local quilting group. She was a skilled landscape painter. In 2001 Sandy completed classes for a Masters Degree in English from USU. She gave music lessons in piano and flute for over 40 years. Her passion for children's literature filled her home library.
