"Sammy"
On October 19, 2016, after a courageous battle with dementia, we lost our beloved Sam at the age of 77.
Sam was born Richard Samuel DeLuca on November 1, 1938, in Murray, Utah to Frank and Vera Panunzio DeLuca. He attended Judge Memorial and graduated from Jordan High School.
Everyone that crossed Sam's path loved him for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He always had a story to share and would start out by saying, "I've got to tell you the best ever!"
He was a fan of Notre Dame, the University of Utah, and the Green Bay Packers.
Sam lived life to the fullest. He coached little league football for many years.
He was an avid golfer and golfed every chance he got. He had bragging rights to two holes-in-one.
Sam loved his family and his heritage. He would say, "There are Italians and those that wish they were Italians."
He married Kathy DeLuca on August 1, 1970, later divorced. Together they had two sons, Frank Anthony and Michael Jay.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons Frank, Michael (Erica), brother Billy (Jan), good friend and caregiver, Kathy DeLuca, grandchildren Anthony Salvatore, Lacey Kathryn, Michael, Robert, TJay Calogero, and Dominic Louis, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.
