Ruth Ellinor Olafsson

Our beloved mother, mormor, farmor and bestemor passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2016. She was born in Bergen, Norway on June 11, 1919. She married Egill Olafsson on June 30, 1945. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 27, 1949.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Egill, her parents, Olaf and Inga Hansen, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by two children, Anne-Marit (Joseph) Osmond and Harald (Ranae) Olafsson, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Ruth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Sunday School, the Young Women's Program, and Relief Society, touching the lives of many individuals. She was a faithful and caring Visiting Teacher for as long as she was able. She never let anything get in her way of fulfilling this stewardship. In later years she worked in the Norwegian name extraction program.

She had a career in retail sales, first working in the department store, Sundt, in Norway, and then at Z.C.M.I. where she became department manager in sporting goods and later in infants and children. She loved her job and was with Z.C.M.I. for almost 18 years.

We would like to thank her caregivers, Joan, Lynn, and Nicole from Hospice of Utah for their assistance and loving care. Joan always put a smile on Mom's face. Also Gaylen Buckley for his timely visits, spiritual messages and beautiful flowers. How she loved those.

Mom faced life with courage and dignity, a quality lady who is now free from the challenges of this earthly existence. You made our lives wonderful and we will cherish our memories of you until we meet again.

Viewing will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Viscounti L.D.S. Chapel, 1970 East Viscounti Dr. (8600 S.) from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral services will be in the same building at 12:00 p.m.
