Ruth Jeannette Nelson Miller, known as Nettie, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on July 1, 2020.
Nettie was born in Murray, Utah on September 19, 1950 to Almon and Ruth Nelson. Nettie was 1 of 11 brothers and sisters. Nettie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Nettie met William "Bill" Miller in Kansas City, Missouri while training at job core. They married on August 9 or 11, 1973 still unsure of the exact date-it became one of the many jokes between the family. Later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. They welcomed their only child Michael in 1975, and shortly after Mike was born they moved to Sandy, Utah where they stayed for 43 years.
Nettie had many jobs throughout her life. She worked at the Farmers Daughter, as a nurse's aide, Del's Market, Sunshine Cleaners, Fads and Fashion Boutique to name a few, but her favorite job was babysitting her nieces and nephews and her 2 grandchildren.
Nettie was a favorite of everyones, she was always a kid at heart even up until her last few days. She loved playing tricks on people and started MANY water fights that continued with her grandchildren. Nettie was so excited when she became a grandmother, she would say she waited her whole life for that moment. Nettie was in the room when her beautiful granddaughter Brooklyn was born in 2009, and after a long 8 1/2 years in between was again in the room to welcome her wild grandson Garren, born in 2017.
Nettie is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, her son Mike (Amy) Miller, grandchildren Brooklyn and Garren, siblings Linda (Dave) Horsley, Ron (Cindy) Nelson, Caroline (Stephen) Walker, Terri (Bruce) Bawden, June (John) Davis, Randy (Sue) Nelson, Regana (Ralph) Warner, Robyn (Bob) Davis, Ryan (Kristen) Nelson and Stephanie (Randall) Brady, and many nieces and nephews, Preceded in death by parents Almon and Ruth Nelson.
The family would like to thank the Sandy City Fire and Paramedics and Sandy City Police who offered their assistance along with countless doctors from IMC, and a special thanks to her long term caregiver Dr. Philip Isenberg.
