Ruth Juanita Christensen Garrett, 94, passed away on October 29, 2017 in Sandy, Utah. She was born on June 29, 1923 in Powell, Wyoming to Lars Peder and Ane Christensen. Ruth married Philip Eugene Garrett on April 4, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a convert and active member of the LDS Church. She learned and grew from many church callings and enjoyed being an Ordinance Worker at the Jordan River Temple. As a wife, mother, grandma, grandma-great and friend, she has been our inspiration, peacemaker and pillar of strength. She loved her family; they were very dear and important to her and brought her much joy and happiness. Ruth was a veteran of World War II as a Navy Wave and was grateful to serve the country she loved. She was grateful for life, and so grateful she chose the Lord's plan and was able to come to live on Earth.
Survived by her children, Kyle Chris (Stephanie), Todd Willard (Nadine), James Philip (Cynthia), Ann Louise Pyper (Ron), Ina Marie Butterworth (Jay), Rugene Jacobs, Christine Ruth Axford (Craig), Priscilla Eileen and Kathleen Garrett; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mina. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Crescent 9th Ward, 10375 S. Leilani Drive, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the service, at the church. Interment, Mtn.
