Ruth Marie Colbert peacefully passed into eternity on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 after an unexpected cardiac arrest at St Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City. Ruth was born May 1, 1947 in San Pedro, California to Sverre Emanuel Olausen and Magda Valentina Thunell. She was raised in California, but loved to visit her many cousins and relatives in Utah. Ruth is survived by her eternal sweetheart and companion for 33 years, Bill Colbert. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple and moved to Draper, after his retirement from the United States Air Force. She is also survived by her older brothers, Richard and John Olausen, who both live in Chico, California and her beloved dog, Gaddy.
While Ruth was unable to have children, she loved them and enjoyed serving in the Primary and Young Women. In Alta Loma, California; she was endeared as a "Scout Mom". She later served in the Relief Society and other Church callings. Ruth found joy in temple service. For Ruth, the veil was thin and she was greatly blessed through her unwavering faith and love of Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, Nov. 30 at the Eagle Crest Chapel, 14919 S Eagle Crest Drive (SunCrest) in Draper. There will be a viewing at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, on Sunday, Nov. 29 between 6-8 p.m. and at the chapel, one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Cemetery in Bluffdale.
