Russell Kent Jackson was born on August 25, 1949 in Nephi, Utah to Russell Henry and Grace Garrett Jackson. He passed away May 25, 2018 in Nephi, Utah as a result of a recently diagnosed brain tumor.
As a young boy, Russ enjoyed being out in nature and helping on the family dairy farm. Russ graduated from Juab High School, and then Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in English. He was a talented writer and worked for several newspapers. He later moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he wrote for the Anchorage Times. After a time he left the newspaper and worked for ARCO as a self taught computer programmer. He loved Alaska and lived there for quite some time. Russ eventually settled in Des Moines, Washington, where he worked as a technical writer for Boeing. He was very good at what he did. Russ married Marianne Northup in 1984. They later separated. Russ has two sons, Benjamin and Oscar whom he loves with all of his heart. He always worked hard to provide for their needs. Russ was a quiet, caring, generous and kind soul. He always expressed how grateful he was for anything anyone would do for him. Russ loved to learn and had a great collection of books. He was an avid runner and ran in several marathons. Family and friends were important to Russ and he always called to check in and see how they were doing. He will be very missed by all who knew him.
Russ is survived by his two sons of Des Moines, Washington, his siblings, Lynda (Gail) Skidmore, George (Jill) Jackson, Dale (Vicki) Jackson, Pam (Chad) Brinkerhoff and Shirley (Steve) Gomez.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah. The family wishes to thank Jan, Amberly, and Trena, and the staff of Laurel Groves Assisted Living Center of Nephi; also, Julieann and Teresa, and the staff from Central Valley Home Health and Hospice, for their kindness and care shown to our brother. Russ was truly grateful for the help that they gave him. Thanks to Anderson Funeral Home for their service to our family.
