Ruel Reynolds Brown joined his eternal companion, Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
He was born to Joshua Elden and Rose Vilate Andrus Brown June 6, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho. When he was a toddler, the family moved to Draper, Utah where he lived until his marriage to Jean Sharp on February 19, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ruel lost his beloved wife Jean November 5, 2021 and missed her dearly until his death.
In 1955 Ruel served an LDS mission to the Central Atlantic States, which included at the time, Virginia and North Carolina. He left as a skinny young man and came back chubby due to his new found love of fried chicken.
Dad had a love of music, playing the cornet, French horn and piano. He was a member of the U of U orchestra and marching band and the BYU concert band. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing several sports such as tennis, racquetball and golf.
His love of music continued by becoming a piano tuner, part time week nights and Saturdays, until his retirement from the State of Utah in 1995, at which time tuning pianos became is full time job for not only private clients but Granite School District and several LDS Church PM groups.
Ruel is survived by his daughter Jill, grandchildren Kyrie (James) Kelsch, Joshua (Nicole) Brown, Megan (Sam) Herbert and brother Elden.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jean, son Todd, parents, his sister Gloria and his brothers Donald and Reid.
I would like to give a very special thank you to Quality Homecare and Hospice for their loving care to dad this past year.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 with a visitation one hour prior to services, at Goff Mortuary in Midvale. Ruel will be placed next to Jean at Midvale City Cemetery.
