Ruby Alice Southwick

Ruby Southwick, age 92, passed away Wednesday morning 7 February 2018, surrounded by her family, in her West Jordan home.

She was born 7 December 1925 to Udy A Dickerson and Ona Elizabeth Basset. She was the fourth child. Her family included three sisters and six brothers. She was raised together with her siblings in the Ogden area. She met Raymond Southwick in the fall of 1942. After his stint in the army, beginning in May 1943, they married on 26 September 1945.  Unfortunately their first two sons were stillborn. Ruby and Raymond moved to Northern California where Raymond ran a saw mill with his brothers and where Scott and Wayne were born. In 1955 they moved to the Columbia Basin in Washington to homestead. While living in Washington Renee and Clyde were born. They raised their family in central Washington. After Raymond retired, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and enjoyed fishing and camping with Raymond's brothers. Ruby served faithfully in many callings in the LDS church throughout her life, including as a missionary in the Liberia Monrovia and Montana Billings missions. She also worked as a temple ordinance worker in the Boise Idaho temple. Later in her life she indexed thousands of records and wrote several family history documents. Ruby was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who knew her. She was a prayerful woman of great faith and incredibly loving. Her legacy of faith lives on in her posterity. On this occasion we are glad for our knowledge of the restored gospel because we know that Ruby is surrounded by love on both sides of the veil.

She is survived by her children Scott (Jana); Wayne (Norene [deceased], Janene); Renee (Robert) King; and Clyde (Michele). Her posterity includes 23 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Sycamore 7th Ward, 7580 West 7980 South, West Jordan, Utah. Viewing from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Liberty Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
