Roy Loren Scott, age 97, died on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Legacy Assisted Living. He was born January 17, 1927 to Loren Eugene Scott and Florence May Johnson of Provo, Utah. He was the 2nd child of six.

Roy grew up in the Provo area and graduated from Provo High School. He enlisted in the Army Air core right out of high school and is a veteran of World War II. Roy served an LDS mission in Hilo, Hawaii.   After returning he married the love of his life Bernice A. Ferrell on September 1, 1950 in the Logan Temple.  Roy graduated from BYU with an accounting degree and later returned to the University of Utah and received an MBA.

Roy started out as an accountant and worked for a canning company in Oakland, California. Then returned to Provo, Utah and worked for Geneva Steel. Pulled up again and went back to the bay area to work in San Francisco, California. Eventually he came back to Salt Lake City, Utah, still working as an accountant for Sperry Univac/Unisys for the next 25 years, until he retired in 1988. Roy was a certified aircraft mechanic, but never used it.  When returning from Oakland, CA to Provo he constructed his own house with the help of his brother Hal Scott. Roy had many hobbies, he loved every aspect of guns, fishing and hunting, loved trains, photography, woodworking, an avid reader.  Whatever he was into at the time he did a complete and professional job of it. He built a boat for the family. He had a darkroom and photography studio set up in the living room for a while. He could fix and do anything he set his mind too. He will be missed greatly by his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his Children Doug (Yinghong Yang) Scott, Judy (Steve) Whalen, Peggy (Kim Varney) Jones, Connie (Richard) Frandsen; nine grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother.

Preceding Roy in death his wife, Bernice; parents; 4 siblings; 1 grandson.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
