Ronald Blake Monsen

In Loving Memory

Our sweet Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, Ronald Blake Monsen, passed away peacefully into the arms of his loving wife, LaRaine, surrounded by his family late Saturday night.

Ron and LaRaine were married on January 12, 1952 in the Honolulu Territory in Hawaii. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Laie Hawaii LDS Temple. They have five wonderful children.

Ron loved camping, hunting, and teaching his grandchildren to hunt and fish. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. As he grew older, Ron wasn't able to do all these things as often as he wanted. He said that he missed going pheasant hunting the most. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean War. Ron and LaRaine spent many years ushering events at the University of Utah, where they made many lifelong friendships. They were true, faithful Ute fans. Ron held many callings in the LDS Church and treasured the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ron is survived by children:  Elaine (Kirk), Rhonda (Sam), Lee (Cindy), Darin, Chad (Becky); 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, LaRaine; parents, Antone Blake and Ethel Aiken Monsen; sisters, Vicki and Beth; and a grandson, Derek.

We would like to thank the Shock Trama ICU Unit at Intermountain Health for their dedicated and loving service.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Midvale 6th LDS Ward, 8171 S Jackson St, Midvale. A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary 8090 S State, Thursday February 15, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 9:45-10:45 am. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
