Ronald Mike Givens, 68, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Mike was born on April 23, 1951 in Mobile, Alabama to parents Archie and Jean (Wambles) Givens. He was the oldest of 5 children.
Mike attended Theodore High School in Theodore, Alabama where he met his forever sweetheart Peggy. They were married on April 27, 1971. The couple settled in Homestead, Florida where they raised their family until 1997 when they moved to West Jordan, Utah. Mike and Peggy celebrated 48 years of wonderful marriage this year.
While living in Florida, Mike had an interesting and unusual career in the Nuclear Power Plant industry where he worked as a Radiation Protection Technician. After leaving Florida, Mike worked for the DOE at several locations throughout the country in the reclamation of World War II weapons facilities. He retired from the State of Utah, Environmental Protection Agency as a Health Physics Engineer in 2016.
Mike's passion was music. He taught himself to play the guitar and piano at age 15. As a teenager he played the organ at his local church. One of his greatest joys were the many bands that he played in throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by father Archie Givens; son Jonathan Givens; grandson Zachary Pei.
Mike is survived by his wife Peggy (Cape) Givens; his children Keri (Peter) Pei, Jessica (Ryan) Benson, Dylan Givens, Steven (Cassie) Givens; grandchildren, Parker, Aidan, Ben, Isabelle, Logan, Phoebe, Connor and Natalie, his mother Jean Givens; brothers Jeff and Ted Givens; sisters, Deborah Lewis and Christina Roberts.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, UT 84047.
