It is with great sadness we speak of the passing of Ron Lillie, a cherished husband, devoted friend, dedicated Sheriff, loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by countless family members and friends as he goes to find eternal peace. Ron and GayLynne Lillie were married for 22 years which brought much joy and excitement into their lives. The loving bond that they shared was seen by all as the traveled around the US and enjoyed their homes in Midvale, UT and Mesquite, NV. They loved the time they spent together and with the many friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ron was born August 7, 1941 in Salt Lake City Utah. The oldest son of Gene and Vera Lillie who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son Troy Ronald Rummler (Patricia). He has 3 other children, Kim, Angie and Shane and when he and GayLynne married he shared in the lives of her 5 children, Tracy, Tiffini, Tami, Craig and April. Together they had 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Grace) Lillie who was his lifelong friend and Sherman Lillie. Ron�s passion in life was the time he spent serving the community through law enforcement. He spent a total of 32 years combined serving in South Salt Lake Police Force and the Salt Lake County Sheriff Department. He was most happy during his 9 years on Riding the Motors. He retired February 15, 1999 with his partner Ken Mueller by his side. Ron was devastated by the recent passing of Ken, the two were inseparable, if you saw one you saw the other. Ron loved fishing and duck hunting as a child and attended Granite High School as well as Westminster College. He was a trained welder and welded until he was employed by the South Salt Lake Police force. He cherished the time on the golf course with his close friends Jerry Bickmore, Larry Bringhurst, Glen and Sue Bailess and Jim Luff. He also enjoyed his time in Mesquite with all the entertainment and good food it had to offer. But most of all he loved taking the grandkids to Disneyland and embracing the magic in all of us. The Viewing will be held Wednesday, October 5th at the Midvale First Ward, 7500 S. Cottonwood St. (300W) 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, October 6th at with a Viewing from 10:30-11:30am prior to the Funeral Services. The interment will follow directly after the funeral at Midvale City Cemetery 7500 S 471 W. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Jayne Macphearson and Quality Hospice Care team for their compassionate service during the the final weeks of Ron�s life. The gentle treatment of Ron and our whole family will always be appreciated.
